This a really interesting geological map, with an estimate of oil reserves potential in the Arctic continent. According to the study of Wood & Mckenzie, perhaps Russia has more oil in its territory than no other country in the Arctic. Also in Greenland, in front of european coast, could have an important oil discoveries.
Into the Russian territory, the Franz Josef Land zone could be the greatest potential for the entire Arctic.
I suposed that this area should be continually traveled by military submarines to monitor the borders of fine lines that should not be any clearer.
When oil returns to be above the $100, no surprise if we see any military conflict. In fact, if you remember, the origen of the sinking of the Russian nuclear submarine Kurks it’s not clear. Someone argues that was torpedoed by an American submarine. As its collapse was not far from the Franz Josef Land, perhaps the oil had to do.
